Organising and presenting school workshops is great fun! I have built up many years experience of classroom based events and developed a  structure that works very effectively as reflected in the lovely feedback I’ve been lucky enough to receive. The ‘meet the author’ visits that I organise for schools are very interactive. They are very curriculum relevant (Key stage 2 upwards) with lots to see, touch, make and do. They are visually led and involve lots of hands on interaction and non-messy art / craft activities.

I prefer groups of up to 30 students, preferably classroom based, for whole or half day sessions that are designed to fit around the school timetable. I provide all of the equipment and materials required.

Workshop Themes

All workshops have the same basic structure (a mixture of talk, activities, hands on and multimedia presentations) but because the requirements of different organisations vary, the main art activity can be customised to suit your school or be based around one of the following popular topics:

  • Book Week / Science Week
  • Build Your Own Flea Circus
  • FOLD-ABLE-CLUB Events
  • Magic Wallet/Purse
  • Magic Fact Machine
  • I have ongoing experience supporting additional learning needs at FE/HE level, and I am happy to work with individual pupils, groups or bases at any level in this capacity.

Other Venues and Organisations

  • In addition to schools I also cater for the following organisations
  • Secondary schools (particularly Art, Graphic Design and D.T.)
  • Libraries, Arts Centres and Evening Classes
  • FE and HE Courses
  • Summer Schools, Clubs and Community Groups

What I charge

Fees vary depending on the nature of workshops. Please contact me for more details and to discuss your requirements.

Feedback

Thank you for your hard work and enthusiasm. It was clear from the evaluation (which was given the highest ranking across all sections) that it was much appreciated by staff and pupils. It not only inspired the pupils as a collaborative Art / DT project but it also inspired them to write and they asked me to send copies on to you. The quality of your input is mirrored not only by their “Pop-Ups”, but also by the quality of their letters. Pupil X for example will often struggle with writing ideas etc – but not this time ! Thank you very much for your visit.

Mr Peter Harwood. Head teacher, Gladstone Primary School, Cardiff.

Many thanks for the session you took with our ‘catch Up’ group. We’ve had a great deal of very positive feedback from the children involved. They all thoroughly enjoyed the day.

Mrs R. M. Thomas, Headteacher, Clydach Junior School

Thanks very much for a very enjoyable day. The children had great fun and are still talking about your visit!

Mrs Anne Marry. Gendros Primary School.

Thank you for a wonderful day
